SKIPWITH NEWS Week of 6/20/2022

Good afternoon families, this is Todd Smith Principal of Skipwith Elementary with our final weekly updates and email with important detailed links for the 21-22 school year.

  1. As you know Thursday, June 16 was our last of the 21-22 school year. We will begin our summer office hours which are Monday-Thursdays from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm until August 15. Please note will be closed this  Monday, June 20 for the Juneteenth Holiday,
  2. If your child forgot their school supplies or report card you may call the school or come in to get their items. Please be ready to give us your child’s and teacher’s names. Due to the limited number of staff in the office, this may take several minutes to gather the materials.
  3. If you have any family, friends, or neighbors who have a child that will turn 5 by Sept.30, 2022, please remind them to go to the county or Skipwith website to complete the online Kindergarten registration forms. You can also direct them to call the school to set up an appointment to register their child for the 22-23 school year. Please see the link in my email https://henricoschools.us/registration/

Skipwith Weekly Health Report – As you know, Henrico County Public Schools and Skipwith Elementary are doing everything reasonably possible to keep you informed about health concerns that are connected to our school. Over the past week, June 11- June 16, 2022 Skipwith Elementary has recorded  0positive COVID-19 cases.All close contacts have been previously notified by the building administration. Most importantly if your child is feeling sick, running a fever, or has COVID-like symptoms please keep them home and call the school to report the illness so we can help you determine their return date.

Kindergarten Registration: Online Kindergarten registration for the 22-23 school year begins Monday, April 18 using the following link https://henricoschools.us/registration/  If you have any family, friends, or neighbors who have a child that will turn 5 by Sept.30, 2022, please remind them to go to the county or Skipwith website to complete the online registration forms. SOL Information and Score Report Parents of 3rd, 4th, and 5th-grade students can view their child’s scores for the Reading and Math SOLs in the Parent Portal. Please note the scores are updated each Friday. The VA Studies and Science SOL score reports will not be in the portal.  A copy of your child’s score reports for these two SOLs will be sent home with your child’s final report card at the end of the school year.
