Principal’s Message

Dear Skipwith Families,

Skipwith celebrated a very successful 2017-2018 school year. We are very proud of these accomplishments and plan to move forward to continue overall school growth. The 2018-2019 school year will have many exciting learning opportunities and changes.

Skipwith Elementary School is a diverse and dynamic community which serves more than 550 students from over 30 different countries. We will continue to embrace and celebrate the many different cultures represented throughout the year. The students will learn how to collaborate and develop relationships which begins each day by reciting the Skipwith motto:

“We at Skipwith Elementary pledge to be a community of learners by being safe, responsible, and respectful.”

2018-2019 Skipwith Theme and Renovation News:

Our 2018-2019 school theme will continue to be “Building for the Future”. Skipwith will begin our second year of renovation and construction! Due to the renovations, some school procedures will need to be adjusted to ensure the safety of the students and staff members. Parent drop off and parking will be much more difficult. Therefore we highly encourage you to have your children ride their assigned school bus to and from school. We will still have six double-wide learning cottages (trailers) in the middle of the track with 12 classes. The 3rd, 4th, and 5th-grade students will be in these trailers until the scheduled ending of the renovation, which is in December of 2018. While there will be many challenges and adjustments throughout the year please be assured that we will remain focused on your children’s safety and education. This is an exciting time for Skipwith and we look forward to another successful school year.

Another very important part of this year will be the entrance to the office. Due to the construction, our main office has been moved to the back of the school near the car rider loop. All visitors must park in the side parking lot by the parent drop off and enter the building at the back entry door. You will find the entry button on the steps to the back door.

The Skipwith PTA, faculty, and the administrative team look forward to working with you in the 2018-2019 school year. As the first and most important teacher in your child’s life, we need and welcome your support to help develop our school vision of collaboration, accountability, and developing positive relationships. We encourage you to become active members of our Parent Teacher Association (PTA) which is a wonderful way for you to share ideas and support our students and school.
